Nice Things To Write On Engagement Cards

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is the least active of the alkali metals. It is ductile, malleable and, although white, is easily coated with a layer of white oxide (MgO) which gives the gray metal that we normally see. It is widely used by lightweight alloys for aircraft. Burns easily react with oxygen and nitrogen from the air, why is widely used in fireworks because it creates in the combustion a very intense white light of short wavelength.

Mg + O 2 -> MgO
3 Mg + N 2 -> Mg 3 N 2

We will conduct two practices relating to magnesium

Combustion of magnesium

MATERIAL

spatula, crucible tongs.
Products:
magnesium. PROCEDURE

Cut 2 cm of magnesium ribbon.
Please scratch this off with a spatula and examines the color and brightness that appears.
Turn it on with the help of crucible tongs.

reaction of magnesium with hydrochloric acid-2 MATERIAL

Crystallizer, gas tube, pipette bulb safety, watch glass.
Products:
Magnesium, concentrated hydrochloric acid.

PROCEDURE Put water

halfway into a crystallizer. Full
exhaust tube with water almost completely, and add 5 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid (pour making sliding down the wall of the tube gases, fume cupboard and under the supervision of your teacher).

Finish filling the tube with water so that the meniscus beyond the edge of the tube, but not dripping.
cover the tube with the bottle, turn it over and insert it in the crystallizer so that it is as follows:
weighs 2 cm of magnesium ribbon and insert it quickly into the gas tube.
expected to complete the reaction and record the volume of gas evolved. Back
cap the gas pipe and remove it from the water. With the tube still blocked on a call and he removes the tube.
See what happens.

liquid volumes. Magic

The next practice we will take measurements of volume with the probe and the pipette while we make a fun experience.

start from a known volume of tap water and do a trick "magic." Consist of changing the water glass and appear to be transformed into wine. To move the contents to a third vessel, appear to be transformed into C oca-Cola. In the first conversion, which occurs is that potassium permanganate, which is deep violet, dissolved in water. In the second conversion, hydrogen peroxide reduces the permanganate ion (violet color) to MnO 2 , yellowish solid that remains in suspension. In addition, oxygen is evolved gas. This oxygen, which is responsible for the bubbles, is essential in combustion and that is why if we bring a small flame to an atmosphere rich in this gas, it will burn more vivacity. The chemical reaction that takes place is:
2 KMnO 4 + 2 H 2 O 2 -> 2 MnO 2 + 2 KOH + 2 H 2 O + 2 O 2 -

MATERIAL

Three beakers, graduated cylinder, 100 ml, 2 ml pipette, pear security filter paper.
Products:
Potassium permanganate (KMnO 4 ), concentrated hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2). PROCEDURE

Make a small stick about 10 cm long wrapped with filter paper. Leave it ready. Leave
the first glass clean.
Put a few pieces of solid potassium permanganate in the second beaker.
Measured 4 ml of hydrogen peroxide with a pipette and pour into the third beaker.
Measure 100 ml of water with the specimen and Transfer it to the first beaker.

water passes first to the second vessel. Observe and record what happens. Repeat the process
content from the second to the third glass. Observe and record what happens. Turns
cane and Bring it to the beaker near the bubbles. You must hurry and do this before the end of the reaction and hence bubbles are exhausted Observe and record what happens.

What To Do If My Infant Swallowed A Safety Pin

Dehydration of sugar by sulfuric acid

In this practice we will work with the quantity used to measure a chemical reaction curious observe how quickly the sulfuric acid dehydrates the sugar and converts it into charcoal. As also shows a lot of gas, coal would get full of air bubbles, so much the volume increases.

Keep in mind the precautions in the treatment of hazardous substances, in this case sulfuric acid. This acid is very dangerous, because it is toxic and very corrosive, so there be treated carefully.

We will also consider the release of noxious fumes, so this reaction is carried out in fume cupboard. The reaction that takes place is: C

H 12 O 22 11 (s) + 11 H 2 SO 4 (aq) -> 12 C (s) + 11 H 2 SO 4 + 11 H 2 O (g)

The amount of commercial sugar we're going to use need not be very accurate.

The reaction is highly exothermic (gives off much heat.)

MATERIAL

2 Beakers 50 ml graduated cylinder 100 ml, stirrer, fume.

Products:
sulfuric acid (H 2 SO 4 ), commercial sugar.

PROCEDURE Fill

third part of a beaker of 50 ml with sugar. place it in the fume cupboard or well ventilated place. Measure with the probe
25 ml of concentrated sulfuric acid and add it to the first glass. Shake
with the stirring rod until well blended.
Remove the dipstick and see what happens.

Mucus In The Throat During Pregnancy

Whale Discovery in Santiago

sculptural installation created with 56 real whale bones.

measures 7 meters long, 4 meters wide and 40 cm high.

bones gave them to me a friend Island fisherman Toto.
He had found the dead whale on a beach ..
(if you want the full story continues to the end of the blog ..)
.:*:.

The 2004, managed the installation
of the work "Finding the Whale,"
inside the Aquarium
Santiago, located in the MIM.

On May 4, 2005 officially opened the work, and
that time my friends Choir Students at the Catholic University
sang alongside the work.
